Rejection is supposed to be scary.
Good news, your brain is working in your best interest.
I recently read about a woman who literally has no fear. She apparently had a rare disease and in the late stages of her childhood, it destroyed both sides of the amygdala causing a unique form of damage to her brain. The result was her no longer feeling or sensing any fear.
According to a piece in Wired Magazine, researchers had her record her emotional state over a three-month period. She never felt fear.
She has no fear of public speaking. Being judged. Even death.
It turns out, this is a dangerous position to be in and her identity has been well guarded by the scientists who’ve studied her condition.
She’s completely vulnerable to a wide variety of dangers none of which she has the good sense (aka: fear) to avoid!
So, your wise brain doesn’t want you out in the world surviving on your own, away from the group. Being rejected, biologically speaking, was a huge risk.
Now, today, fearing rejection and not being willing to face it, is a liability.
How things change, right?
We must help our brains out with a mindset shift and practice that new way of thinking and living regularly.
We can teach our minds that rejection isn’t as terrifying as it wants us to believe.
October is the perfect month to focus on overcoming fear.
To do this, we suggest learning to go for no in your business and your life.
Go for No is a mindset and a practice.
The mindset is rooted in courage.
The practice is asking.
The result is less fear. And more yeses!
