A Go for No Story
by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz
Coss Marte grew up in the ghetto of Manhattan’s Lower East Side and started selling drugs by 13. He went in and out of the system for 10 years. Finally at 23, he found himself in a filthy cell in solitary confinement, his "drug kingpin" days over.
If that wasn’t bad enough he was wildly unhealthy with cholesterol so high the doctors said he could die within five years. Dying in prison was not in his plan.
Coss prayed for answers. He also started working out in those tiny, horrible conditions. And in six months, he dropped 70 pounds. He also started helping other inmates with a workout routine and eating plan (the best you could do in prison anyway.) He helped one group of guys lose over 1000 pounds collectively.
Fast forward.
Eventually, he was paroled. Coss was living on his mom’s couch. Of course no one would hire him. (Talk about “go for no” - he was constantly rejected.) However, he had a dream of continuing what he’d started and worked on building a fitness business based on everything he accomplished with his inmates in prison. He passed out business cards on the street and started a workout group in the park. Eventually he got a space to do
training from someone willing to rent to an ex-con.
With almost everything you could think of going against him, today Coss Marte is the owner of a wildly successful, growing fitness business called - get this - ConBody.
It’s a gym that looks like a prison (ha!) which has served thousands of clients and has one of the best retention rates in the fitness industry. Plus it’s literally in the same neighborhood where he sold drugs for all those years. If you’ve never heard of him, neither had we, although his story has been everywhere in the media over the last couple years, as you can imagine. He even employs ex-cons like himself to get
them on the right track when they get out.
We’re not sure which is most impressive – turning around his health in the worst place you can be or being an ex-con who started a company from a couch. It’s a true Go for No story either way.
And by the way, the website even has an online option – you can download “prison-style workouts that each take 23 minutes or less to knock out.”
And the marketing slogan is awesome: #dothetime

Summer is here and we want to give you some of our latest book recommendations. In fact we have a entire list of our favorites over here on Amazon. Here's a little background on our current suggestions...
If you like the story about Conbody, you'd probably enjoy reading a book by David Goggins called, Can't Hurt Me. It's amazing! Rich has even been using Goggins' mindset as inspiration for his recent health challenge which is to climb the equivalent of the Empire State building (in our apartment building) everyday for 50 days. He's almost done! Watch one of Richard's recent Facebook Lives here.
If you are in direct sales or network marketing, Ray Higdon recently released a book just for people who are interested in building a team or have a team. It's called, Freakishly Effective Leadership for Network Marketers. And it's fantastic, the reviews are so so good. And of course, his first book, Freakishly Effective Social Media for Network Marketing is also on the list, and really, if you are building any business on
social media, this book will be incredibly helpful. Go to the list.
Next, if you like books on sales or selling, my friend Mike Weinberg just released his book called #SalesTruths It's a great book and my endorsement is even on the back cover.
Finally, only for those of you who want to write a book yourself, grab a copy of Million Dollar Book Formula. It's the 13 ingredients we discovered that will give your book the greatest chance for success. If you have a business of any kind, or want to launch one, a book can really help you, but please, read this book first! Go to the list.

It's rare that Richard and I get to speak at events that are open to anyone because most speaking we do is for corporate sales conventions. So, this is super cool to be a part
of.
It's the Relationship Marketing Grand Summit in Salt Lake City, August 8-9. There are a ton of amazing presenters teaching relationship building, marketing, business strategy, and selling. Plus the event tickets are an incredible value for what you get.
