Are You Selling from the Heart?
by Andrea Waltz
A couple weeks ago I was on a fun podcast with Larry Levine and Darrell Amy called Selling from the Heart. They started by asking me what I thought that means. You can listen to the entire podcast here and hear my answer.
There are two places you can operate from: the head or the heart. Said another way, logic or emotion. That can be tough to balance.
We humans are emotional creatures. But logic is critical because emotions can sabotage us especially when things are not going well, when we're facing obstacles and getting a lot of rejection. We convince ourselves that we aren't good enough or worse we start looking for validation from what we do and not from who we are.
I heard a quote the other day, "The longest journey you will ever take is the 18 inches from your head to your heart." So selling from the heart is wonderful. I believe it's what makes us able to connect with another person to sell with honesty and integrity.
But when it comes to rejection, what you can't do is let a NO go to your heart.
You don't need outside validation from anyone else or any deal or sale to affirm you are worthy. So yes, sell from the heart but absorb rejection with your head. It bounces off easier.
