Nothing Ventured... Nothing Gained!
by Andrea Waltz
I have to tell you this
story... I got connected to a guy on LinkedIn named Dale Dupree who calls himself The Copier Warrior.
Dale has taken what he does as a sales professional and executes at every level. He is fun, creative, and he does not fear no! No matter what you sell, check out what he's doing at www.copierwarrior.com
So, back to Dale's story which I read
on Linkedin and asked him if I could share.
Here it is in his words:
We were driving to an appointment and running about 45 minutes ahead of schedule.
We were in the middle of nowhere in Volusia County, so we did what anyone else would do...
I pointed to a road coming up and said "turn left."
My colleague obliged
but made mention that "this looks like a sketchy road."
We passed a couple of abandoned buildings, saw a sign that said "no outlet" and I told my new sales friend to just keep going and we will turn around at the end.
Well, there was a building at the end, a big old building. Probably 100 cars in the parking lot too.
We park and walk
inside the office, went in the wrong door mind you and realized we were in the production area but I saw a couple people so we just started walking over to them.
I introduced myself to the first guy standing there and said, "Hey man, my name is Dale and I think I came in the wrong door but I saw you all standing here and figured I would come and shake your hands and ask if you could point me in the right
direction.”
“Who are you looking for?”
I handed him my marketing piece which was me in the hallway of the Deathstar performing Jedi force moves on a copier.
"Well, son, I would say today is your lucky day as I am the owner and I love Star Wars, come with me.”
As a serious fan
of Star Wars myself I loved this story and I love Dale's adventurous spirit. And creativity! You never know where you will find opportunity.
As Dale says, "Have guts. Gain glory."
