This Month's NOtivational Quote
"Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come."

Turning No Into a Gift
by Andrea Waltz

In honor of this coming season of gift-giving, here is an interesting way of accepting a NO.

What would happen, if, when someone said NO to you... you imagined that they just handed you a gift. What would you do?

First, you'd react positively. Everyone loves gifts, right? Whether the 'no' is delivered to you in person, over the phone, or in text - respond in the most upbeat manner that you can. Why? Because you need to react in a way that keeps your communications open, friendly, and positive. If you seem really upset or frustrated, this could make the person nervous or start to regret dealing with you at all. Not good.

We want them to know that 'no' is okay. This way, they will be more open to you in the future and more likely to give you referrals because you demonstrated calm and professionalism when things did not go your way.

Now the next thing we typically do when we get a gift is decide what we are going to do with it. Where does it go? I love this analogy because it reminds you that this is not the end! You still have something to do. And what is that?

It could be that you simply say, thank you and move on. But remember, no does not mean 'never' - often it means, not yet. So after you respond positively, ask one more follow up question or get permission to follow up at a later date.

The point is, a no is rarely the end unless you make it that way. So figure out what you are going to do with the "gift" you've just been given. Let it be a trigger for you to take positive action rather than turn away.

If you think of it positively, this idea could in and of itself, be a gift that keeps on giving!
Go for No! Recommends...
So, I have to tell you how I ended up in this series. I love being involved in big projects full of value that help people. However when Genevieve, the series creator, sent me an email, I ignored it. In my defense I get a fair amount of requests and I was so busy.

Later on, she sent me a message through our website form. I thought, oh, it's that same lady. I considered writing her back but I got busy again. The next thing I know, she messaged me on Facebook. Okay, now I know, she is probably not going away easily. And the other thing: she made each contact super friendly and very personal to me. So I took a look and realized not only is she a "go for no" woman herself, she was putting together a great series that I decided I wanted to be involved with.

It's called Your Achiever Mindset: How to Free Yourself from Limits, Increase Productivity
and Make Your Goals Your Reality, and you can get your free pass here.

My interview goes live in just a couple days!  We know you have a busy life, so this series has been designed so that you can enjoy little tidbits of advice in small doses from wherever you are. I hope you love it. And, you can be sure you are learning from a lot of great women that were brought together through persistence and passion!
