The Opportunity of Rejection by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz
What would happen if you visualized every 'no' you got, as a gift? When someone says no to you, if you saw it
as a gift, maybe you wouldn't move on so quickly. Perhaps you could turn that no into an opportunity?
When you get a gift from someone, you take it and you decide what you are going to do with it. Where are you going to put it?
We surveyed sales professionals in a group on
linkedin.com and everyone had a story about how a ‘no’ turned into a success.
One person said, “A client said no, but gave me a lead that turned into one of my best sales ever.”
Another person had cold-called on a large company which was in a contract with another supplier. The
salesperson then asked them about other people they knew who could use his product and he was referred to a location just down the street where he signed what he described, “a nice long, profitable agreement.”
Laina Gossman is owner of Soul Insole, a company that sells reusable and washable insoles made out of a memory gel. They sell online, in specialty stores, and in podiatrist and
chiropractor offices throughout the U.S.
In a recent interview, she said, " When I’m rejected, I try to leave the door open and leave on a good note. You never know what opportunities can come from it. I also like to follow up with those who say no, to stay in touch. I had some doctors who recommended my product to their doctor friends. They said: ‘I love them. I wear them in my shoes every day. But they are not for my office. But I called up two doctor friends and told them about
it."
Even when you get a 'no' there is opportunity. When you can see the value in it, when you can mentally see it as a "gift" and instead of reacting negatively, yeses can fall into your lap that you never planned or expected.

NOteworthy Reminders: New Book! |
Back in March we released Go for No! for Network Marketing with guest author, network marketing expert /trainer, Ray Higdon. His take on the concept plus 17 inspiring 'go for no' stories from top leaders makes this book a must-read if you are building a direct selling business.
The book is available on Amazon or at our website.
People have asked about the differences between the two books (the original Go for
No! and this one) so here is a recent review which might be helpful...
"Now, I must warn you, this is more of a textbook than the original Go For No, which is a fun allegory. Having said that, as a serious business builder in the Network Marketing profession, a
textbook is more advantageous than an allegory, which is more of a fun, easy-read. If you are looking for an intentional, brass tactics strategy, alongside REAL stories of success...this is the book for you."
