NOteworthy Quote of the Month

"Your decision to be, have and do something out of the ordinary entails facing difficulties that are out of the ordinary as well. Sometimes your greatest asset is simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else." - Brian Tracy

This Month's Trivia Question
Ah, tax day is upon us. Any idea who has the biggest income tax bill? By the way, are you aware that if you steal property you are required to list it on your 1040 as income? (Sure, that happens!) See More Below...

My Go for No Epiphany
by Andrea Waltz

According to a trusted internet dictionary definition, epiphany (from the ancient Greek ἐπιφάνεια, epiphaneia) is an experience of sudden and striking realization. So yes, I did have one.

Richard and I were in our corporate jobs and it was during a regional training meeting, that Richard told his signature ‘Go for No’ story about the district manager, Harold, asking him (after the customer never said ‘no’ to anything during the sale) ‘how did he know the customer was done shopping?’ There was my epiphany.

You see, I believed that I was a superstar salesperson. And I was good. But I wasn’t ‘Go for No-Good.’  As a card carrying member of the people-pleaser club, I always wanted people to like me. And I never wanted to be perceived as one of those horrible pushy and aggressive salespeople.  But how could I? My intentions were never to be that way and it was not in my heart, so how could I ever be? And if you’re at all like me, you also need not worry about that! Because, the answer is, I would never be that way. I would never allow myself to be that person, but it didn’t matter.

Even the fear of mistakenly being perceived negatively was enough to keep me from reaching my full potential. Luckily for me, I worked on my own Go for No mindset for many years before teaching it myself and have realized when my intentions are good, and I remain positively persistent, but I do not give up; that is the ideal ‘go for no’ position.

P.S. I have told this story on a few podcasts, if you enjoy listening to podcasts, visit our media room to discover a ton of great ones!

This Month's Trivia Answer

ExxonMobil pays the highest taxes, at about $30 billion a year. The 1040 instructions say that you should report any stolen property, however, doing that would be self-incrimination, from which we are protected by the Constitution; therefore, one has the option of reporting it as "other income." Tax dollars hard at work.
