Excuses Keeping You Stuck?
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea
Waltz
You've probably heard the quote, "Argue for your limitations, and sure
enough they're yours." (Richard Bach) The same could be said of
excuses.
On our facebook
page a couple of weeks ago, we
posted the top 3 of our favorite excuses along with the corresponding affirmation from Dr. Wayne Dyer's 'Excuses
Begone List of 18 Affirmations.'
- It's
going to be risky. Affirmation: Being myself involves no risks. It is
my ultimate truth, and I live it fearlessly.
- It
will take a long time. Affirmation: I have infinite patience when it
comes to fulfilling my destiny.
- I'm
too scared. Affirmation: I can accomplish anything I put my mind to,
because I know that I am never alone.
Fear,
risk, time - not to mention age, money, other people's
opinions - all are excuses for not living the kind of life we desire.
For Richard and I, whenever one of us hears the other go into one of
our excuses... we joke and say, "that's right... keep
repeating that over and over." It's a little
reminder (and yes, sarcastic) that we're
holding onto the excuse. Every
excuse we tell ourselves has a powerful positive affirmation that you can substitute. Here's one about NO:
- I
hate rejection and getting NO.
Affirmation: My success journey will include many
NOs along the way and I accept them so I can enjoy the entire trip!
These
excuses aren't you, they don't own you, you own
them. As Wayne Dyer says, "You have an unquestionable ability
to eliminate excuses--they'll get up and go when
they're revealed as the false beliefs that they are."

"20
years ago when I started in this field, or 25 years ago, we thought we
could change stuff. But we didn't know for sure what was happening in
the brain. Now we actually see, you change your belief, you start
changing how you think, it's like changing this muscle. So you can
actually learn with repetition, lots and lots of repetition to change
those thought patterns or the neural network that holds certain thought
patterns and those belief systems." - Dr. TC North, Blast Through Fear

Month's Trivia
Answer |
Answer: Charlie
Chaplin. Chaplin was a very famous silent movie star with a distinctive
look known as "the tramp." It was the tramp that was the point of the
look-alike competitions rather than Chaplin himself, who
actually looked somewhat different out of make up. Chaplin
said that he took part in the contest to show the contestants
how to do the tramp's walk properly. The judges weren't convinced and
didn't put him through to the final.
