The Shawshank Redemption Lesson
by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz

We got lured into one of our favorite movies this past Sunday afternoon… The Shawshank Redemption.  Released 1994 and nominated for 7 Academy Awards.

Andy Dufresne is wrongly convicted and sent to Shawshank Prison for the murder of his wife and her lover.  Set in the 1940’s. There’s plenty of evil doers among both the prisoners and the guards. The Warden even kills the only man that could help prove Andy’s innocence.  But there’s a great friendship between Andy and ‘Red’ (played by Morgan Freeman) and we get a wildly satisfying ending when Andy actually digs his way out and escapes the prison to go live out his days on a beach in Mexico.

Towards the end, Red explains: “All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer, damn near worn down to the nub. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty."

Most of us never start things because we think it's going to take too long! Too long for who? The 20 years is going to come and go... the only question is, what will you have at the end of the 20 years to show for it?

So start digging. Now. Even if it's just a little bit each day. The time is going to pass and you'll be grateful you started when you did.  As the year comes to a close and a new one begins, remember this little phrase: "One of these days is now."

NOtable Quotables from the Go for No! Movie

"We don't use that word "done," because we know what we have. I think once you believe that strongly, the "no" is just more of an opportunity to make it better." - Nelson Grist, CEO, For The Earth Corp., Inventor, What Odor?

Richard & Andrea Recommend...

... checking out our book Million Dollar Year. (This one is just for direct sellers and network marketing professionals!) The book is only $12 and comes with a year's worth of audio training interviews... but just until next year. In a few weeks we'll be changing up the entire site to a paid membership. So if it sounds interesting, do it now while it still being offered this way - the book price of $12 plus shipping.

This Month's Trivia Answer

On May 14, 2007 Nola Ochs (born in 1911) became a Guinness World Record holder as the world's oldest college graduate. And, after taking time to help with the family wheat harvest, Ochs started pursuing her master’s degree in liberal studies from Fort Hays State University in August 2007.
