You Are Probably a Parenting Failure!

You are the worst parent in the world. Oh, not to your kids if you have
them... I mean to yourself. Okay, let me explain.
By the way, I am personally not a parent. I have at one time,
owned and taken care of three houseplants and two cats. All
survived, but that's my max. However, a lot of our friends
have kids and when you watch any good parent introduce their kid to a
new activity, from hitting a ball with a bat to
riding a bicycle or tying thier shoes... we all know that the kid
usually struggles and fails at first. And the kid might get really
upset and frustrated but the good parent jumps in and
reassures, saying, "don't worry you'll get it, you just need practice"
and "it takes everyone time to do this" and, "you'll be
great, you just need time to master this."
Now you're an adult. And pretty much, it's up to you to parent
yourself. But what do you do? What do you say to yourself when you are
learning and trying new things? Are you anywhere as
reassuring and supportive? I wonder if you are.
Remember that when you are outside your comfort zone at any time, you
deserve the same patience, reassuance and reminders
that you'd give any child. We help kids understand that they need to
work through failures, that it's not the end of the world and
just part of the process. The same goes for you.
