A 'NO' Success Story
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea
Waltz
We thought it would be fun to share with you a story from a young man
who recently wrote us. Sometimes it's easy to get bogged down
in
the day to day and when we read this it actually inspired US to 'go for
no' better! Seriously. So we hope you enjoy reading and that
some
of the enthusiasm will rub off on you like it did for us.
"First, let me start off with a little background information: I work
for The Parks and Recreation Commission. My
position is the
Facility Supervisor at The Park in the Tennis
Center. We
have 13 total tennis courts, nine outdoor and 2 indoor. We
have a
pro shop where we sell tennis apparel, racquets, grips, accessories,
snacks, drinks, etc. We also offer lessons, leagues and
events..
I came across your book, Go for No!, when I was ordering Failing
Forward by John C. Maxwell. Your book was recommended so I
did
some research and decided I wanted to purchase it. I
haven't received your book yet but I did go online and I
explored
your website, goforno.com. This is where I came across the 30
Day
Challenge and it actually made me excited to fail!
I began by asking patrons if they would like to purchase certain items
that I thought would be suitable for them. Well this
increased my
No's but then I decided to take it a step up and began to ask patrons
if they wanted this or that or this and that. This really
increased my No's! I was even asking if they wanted these key
chains that have been there over a year and one last grip stick we had
that looked like it was from the 80s! As you can imagine, I
got a
ton of Nos but guess what?? That's right, not only
did I
sell the key chains but I also sold the impossible (until the Go for
No! Challenge) grip stick! These results really motivated me
to
get more No's so then it began to be an internal habit to ask everyone,
anytime, anywhere if they would like to buy merchandise we have
available. Would you like to buy a brand new tennis racquet
for
less than wholesale price? I'm assuming you just
said No to
yourself so there is my first No of the day! I'm
already on
a roll and it's my day off!
The next obstacle that I had to overcome was that we just
don't
have a lot of traffic because it's not your normal retail
store
that advertises and so on. It's at a park so we
have a low
volume of people that come through. The way, and the only
way, I
could figure to get more No's is by asking the patrons that did come
through multiple times if they would like this or that then after those
N'os I moved on to asking them about other merchandise and received
more No's.
The overall results were astounding! We doubled our sales
from
the previous 30 days! That's absolutely correct,
you heard
me (or read me) right, we not only increased our sales, we doubled
them! I have learned that failure is success! Did
you know
that they are both seven letter words? Well that's
not all
they have in common! Thank you for your program and your challenge. I appreciate
it
and look forward to more and more Nos in the future."

Happy
2012 Everyone! We celebrated by having dinner at one of our favorite
nearby restaurants (we skipped the steakhouse) and then watched the
downtown Orlando craziness from our balcony. Courage stayed under the
bed all night.

FIITFU! We
all know that "no doesn't mean never, it means not yet." But how do you
stay on top of the no's and for that matter the "maybes" without using
tons of post-it notes and outlook reminders? And what about all your
customers who have purchased in the past? Are you
staying in
touch? Well, do we have a solution for you! We have
stumbled on a terrific system called FIITFU. a.k.a The Fortune Is In The
Follow Up
Please take a few minutes and have a look at this new follow up system.
It's simple and effective. And while it bills itself
as the
"CRM for network marketers," we use it in our business! If
you
have customers and prospects, meetings and phone appointments - it can
work for you too.
