I
Can't Even Imagine...
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea
Waltz
The
other day Richard and I were walking into CRUNCH, our new gym in South
Beach, when we spotted a guy doing pulls ups. What caught our
attention (besides how wildly fit he was) was how fast he was doing
them, and with such ease. He did about 20 full pull-ups in a
row without hesitation, and he wasn't even breathing
hard. That's when Rich turned to me and said,
"I can't even imagine!" Then,
as we stood there, while the guy started another set, Richard made an
interesting observation: "Maybe the reason
we're not in that kind of shape is because we
haven't imagined it." Which got us to
thinking...
We imagined getting married
and maintaining a long-term, loving relationship ... and it
happened (we celebrate our 12th anniversary next month!)
We imagined someday writing a
book... and it happened.
We imagined turning that book
(Go for No!) into a best-seller... and it happened.
We imagined speaking to
audiences of thousands of people... and it happened.
We imagined moving to South
Beach, Miami and spending our days at the beach, writing articles and new
books on our laptops... and it happened.
In his groundbreaking personal development recording, The Strangest
Secret, Earl Nightengale said that 'we become what we think
about most.' Interesting. So the question is: What
if we start imagining doing pull ups like this guy, and then held that
vision in our minds long enough? You think?

"I've
learned to appreciate and welcome people to say "No." Matter of fact, I
want them to say "No, that's not a good idea" or want them to say "No,
it can't be done," because to me, that demonstrates a level of
engagement." - Gerald Haman, SoultionMan
