The
Value of NO
by

We
had a fantastic time on the MLM & Direct Sales Cruise at the
end of November. The best part of the cruise (okay, besides
laying on the Carribean beaches) was getting to hear from so
many highly successful people - about how they built and grew their
business, lessons learned, wisdom gained. No matter what you do, you
would have found the stories and the learnings extraordinary!
One
of our favorites came from a great guy named Keith. Keith told a story
about his friend Bill. Keith and Bill were great friends and
when Keith joined
a networking opportunity, he thought it would be great for
Bill as well. So he
asked Bill to take a look but Bill turned Keith
down. Keith stayed in contact. In fact, he said that he called
Bill about three times a year, always mentioning how well his
business was doing and that Bill should really consider it. Keith knew
Bill would be great.
Finally, after nine years, Bill finally relented. And as Keith
thought he would be, Bill became hugely successful. Keith estimates
that he has made 2.7 million dollars as a result of Bill
becoming part of the team. And then Keith realized that, every
call (and by extension, every NO!) he made to Bill was actually worth
around 100,000 dollars. Three calls a year for nine years.
Every 'no' had value. So... was it worth it?
No doesn't mean never. Don't give up on your dreams and don't give up
on other people.

Go
for No!® News |
YES, Andrea failed to
get the November ezine out to you last month. NO, she does not have a
good excuse... besides our having taken most of the month to
drive from Portland Oregon to Miami Beach and then jumping on a cruise
ship for the MLM Cruise. Which brings us to our BIG news; that that we
are currently spending the winter in Miami Beach Florida
and loving it! It's been perfect for training for the Camino
de Santiago (the 500 mile walk through Spain). More on that next month!
However, we will still manage to get some cold weather as
we're off to the U.K. for a speaking engagement the first week of
January.
Monday, December 13th, we are in Denver to do a
Go for No! workshop for Competitive Edge Seminars - if you are anywhere
near Denver or know people who are, find out details to attend: http://www.edgeseminars.com
(make it a gift to yourself for Christmas - give the gift of NO!)

Quotables from
the Go for No! Movie |
"Self-confidence,
the way I frame it, is the result of a successfully survived risk. If
you want to be confident in confronting a potential 'No,' ask for a lot
of stuff so that you get rejected enough to know you can handle it, and
that you didn't die. It's just a numbers game and somebody's going to
say "yes," and to discover that isn't nearly as bad as you thought." -

Recommend... |
Our
Cat, Courage, is actually the one behind our recommendation this month.
It's a fantastic new book, authored by (a dog!)
Bella the Boxer along with Patrick & Ellen Galvin. The book,
"Secrets of a Working Dog: Unleash Your Potential and Create Success" -
is filled with tips, tricks and tales for creating success in work and
in life. But unlike many books on "success" the stories and
perspectives are fun and unexpected - since of course they are
from Bella's perspective.

Courage especially recommends Chapter 6: Persistence: Never Let Go of
the Rope. It's features his story along with Bella's take on using the
"go for no" strategy. Grab the book from Amazon,
(and get 33% off) or get free shipping AND a personalized,
paw-tographed copy by going to http://www.secretsofaworkingdog.com.
Makes a great gift!
