Sleeping
In? Think Again!
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz
Okay, if you haven't figured it out, we're big basketball fans (go
Blazers!) and because of that, we end up sharing a lot of 'hoops'
stories. But this one says it all.
Last week, Goran Dragic, the flashy new guard for
the
Phoenix
Suns, put up 23 points in the fourth quarter (for non-basketball fans,
that's a lot) after which his voice and email were flooded with
messages - most of which came from his home country of Slovenia.
You see, in Slovenia, Goran is a sports 'phenom' and national
treasure. But Goran's road to the NBA wasn't a cake
walk. He used to get up at 2 in the morning to watch
NBA games and his idols... Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, and
Steve Nash... to study their moves. Then he'd go out on the playground
and practice those moves until his fingers would bleed, after which
he'd head off to school where he would ultimately nod off and dream
about it being him on the court.
15 years later, the entire country of Slovenia now gets up at 2 in the
morning to watch their hero, Goran, play in the NBA alongside his
now-aging hero, veteran guard Steve Nash. The only
question now is: When Nash moves aside, will it be Goran Dragic who
takes his place in the sun? Goran Dragic isn't losing any
sleep
over the question: he already has.

"I
think one of the biggest reasons why people fear the word "No, " is
because when we think about the future, when we visualize what we want,
what we think about is the success. So, we're always thinking in terms
of when we hear "Yes, " and what that picture will be like.
We
don't sit there when we go to bed at night and picture all our
prospects telling us "No," and what we're going to say, once they tell
us "No." - Tammy Stanley

Week's Trivia
Answer |
The
government prints roughly 8 billion notes each and every year, enough
to stretch around the equator... 30 times. Obviously, even
this
production has increased recently!

Andrea
recently
interviewed Dave, creator of Dave's
Killer Bread,
a Pacific Northwest business owner who turned his life around from a
life of crime (don't panic, his crimes were theft and drug related) to
running a successful operation, giving back to the community, and
living the life he was meant to live. It's a story of true persistence
when all odds were against him. Come check it out! Already
