Thought of the Week |
"The
truth is that our finest moments
are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable,
unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by
our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start
searching for different ways or truer answers." -M. Scott Peck

Who
Said You Weren't Good Enough? Pt 2
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz
Some more fun facts of those who didn't let "NO" from friends,
family, business associates (and sometimes strangers)
change their path to their dreams!
In 1962, Sam Walton (who owned
15 Ben Franklin
self-service hardware stores running under
the name Walton's Five & Dime) went to upper
management and
proposed that the company open discount stores in small
communities. The executives said he was nuts and rejected the
idea. So he did it on his own and started a little company
call
Walmart.
After this red head moved to
New York, she was
repeatedly told that she had no talent and should return home.
Now everyone Loves Lucy.
His high school music teacher
told Elvis he couldn't sing and gave him a "C" out of
kindness. 600 million albums later...
Barbara Walters was
told by a famous
producer to "stay out of television."
Elton John auditioned for a
small record label
called Liberty Records. They hated his music and refused to sign
him.
Randy Bachman and C.F. Turner
decided to leave
one of the greatest rock bands of all time (can you Guess Who?) to
start their own band, only to have the first 24 record companies they
approached tell them they'd made a huge mistake. But, within 2 years,
they were "Taking Care of Business" and telling the world, "You Ain't
Seen Nothin' Yet."
Following Harrison Ford's
45-second role in
his first movie, a Columbia Pictures executive told him, "You ain't got
it, kid!"
What have people said about you? Have you listened?
Hope not.

Quotables from
the Go for No! Movie |
"I've
learned to appreciate and welcome people to say "No." Matter of fact, I
want them to say "No, that's not a good idea" or want them to say "No,
it can't be done," because to me, that demonstrates a level of
engagement." - Gerald Haman
