Who
Said You Weren't Good Enough? Pt 1
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz
Let's face it - someone is always telling someone else what they cannot
- or should not - do. ALWAYS! Apparently
it's human nature. So we thought it might be fun to share
some of the things that successful, rich and famous people have been
told by friends, family, business associates (and sometimes strangers)
regarding their chances for success:
• At sixteen, Jules Verne wrote
a full-length play and gather friends and family for a
reading. The unexpected laughter so shook young Jules that he
stopped reading after the first act and burned the script.
• A young man
approached the Ruler in Lu, China, offering to make his philosophical
writings available to the state, for free. The Ruler wasn't
interested. The young man then traveled to offer his
doctrines to other neighboring states - every single one rejected him
as well. Unfazed, he decided to write what he believed down,
anyway. He started each teaching the same way:
Confucius Says... Today, Confucius is revered as the
most influential and revered philosopher in China's history.
• After starring in Revenge Of
The Creature, Clint Eastwood was fired and told by a Universal
Studios executive that he spoke too slowly to ever be a star and,
besides that, his Adam's apple was too big.
• Bruce Springsteen was stuffed
in a garbage can by a nun in the third grade "because she told me,
that's where I belong." Then he wrote Born to Run.
• In 1962, after back-to-back
auditions by two bands, The Beatles were soundly rejected by Decca
Records executive Dick Rowe, who then signed the other band, Brian
Poole & The Tremeloes. You remember their
big hit, don't you? Point made.
What have people said about you? Have you listened?
Hope not.

Getting a personal
trainer. No, this is not the title of a book. We're
suggesting - if you want to make maximum progress in minimum
time - you hire a personal trainer. Our trainer
(Scott) has, in ten weeks, helped us achieve more in the gym than we
had in the previous 10 months! Yes, it requires a financial
investment, but so what? What is an extra 10 years of
life worth? Stop thinking about it... do it!

Week "In the Club" |
We
discovered a long-lost tape of Richard's first ever recorded speech
from 1984 and thought it would be fun to share. No, it's not "Go for
No!" that would come years later... it's Richard at a National
Speakers Association meeting doing one of his first serious
presentations on his expertise at the time: image
strategy. Come check it out! Already
