Lessons from The Blind Side

By her own admission, Sandra Bullock never had her heart set on an Oscar - and that just may be how she ended up with one.
As she told People magazine after her big win for her role in 'The Blind Side' last week, "I didn't aspire to this. I was in awe of it. I admired it. I got to watch it like everyone else did, or present - but it wasn't something that I said, 'One day when I get the Oscar....' "

So how did she end up with one?  Simple.  Sandra Bullock was willing to be bad.  What did not get as much coverage last week was that the night before the Oscars®, Sandra Bullock won a 'Razzie Award' for WORST actress of the year for her performance in the stinker, 'All About Steve.'  Bullock won NOT because she dreamed of winning - she won because she wasn't afraid to fail. 

Success and failure... yes and no... are not opposites; they are simply opposite sides of the same coin.  Later, Bullock would joke about where the two statuettes would go on her mantle.  "They'll sit side by side, in a nice little shelf somewhere, the Razzie maybe on a different shelf, lower," she said laughing.  Nah, Sandra - put them both on the same shelf... side by side... where they belong.

Oh, and if her example isn't enough, one of the funniest lines of the night was delivered by Steve Martin who said about Meryl Streep... "Meryl Streep, the most Oscar-nominated actress of all time, with 16!  Or, as I like to think of it, a 13-time loser."

Thursday we'll be celebrating our 11 year wedding anniversary. Last year for #10 we went to Turtle Island, Fiji. This year we're  staying home; grateful to be together. Okay, Fiji was really amazing...you can see how it was being in the sea plane and landing! Click here for the video.

Who spends the most time watching TV? Adults!  Specifically, women (sorry, ladies!) Men average 21.9 hours per week, while women are at a 26.5 average!  Kids? They get just 17.9 hours of tube-time, but just in case you think this takes them off the hook, the study didn't measure ipod/iphone/wii/xbox time.  A wake up call for those who say there's not "enough time" to reach their goals.
