Who
Are You Comparing
Yourself To?
by
Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz
One of the most
destructive activities a person can engage in is to waste time
comparing themselves to others, in particular to what others
have. Consider this story...
Bob and Frank go car shopping; Bob buys a Mercedes limousine, Frank
goes with a Cadillac limousine. A few days later they pull up
to
an intersection, side by side....
"Nice car," Bob says to Frank, "but is it loaded?"
"Yeah, it's loaded!" Frank boasts in return.
"Got a phone?" Bob asks.
"Yep!" responds Frank.
"Got a TV?" Bob inquires.
"Yep, got a TV, too!" Frank beams.
"That's nice. Got a bed?" Bob asks with a smile.
"You've got a bed in there?!" Frank asks in disbelief.
Bob says, "Oh, yeah. It's great!" Then drives off.
Livid, Frank drives straight to the dealership and demands they put a
bed in. A week later Frank sees Bob's limo parked by the side of the
road, hazard lights flashing. He pulls up behind him, parks,
and
walks to the side of Bob's limo and knocks on the window. But
there is no answer. So he knocks again, louder this time.
Finally, Bob appears, rolls the window down and shouts, "What? What do you
want?!" Frank says, "I just want to tell you that now I've got
a
bed in my limo, too!" Bob then replies, "You pulled me out of the
shower
to tell me that?"
Whatever you've got, it will NEVER be enough if you spend your time
worrying about what others have.

Week's Trivia
Answer |
You may
have guessed... toilet paper. Correct! Ironically Gayetty's
invention actually failed (consisting of flat sheets) as it was
revolutionized in 1867 by the Scott Brothers whose product
consisted of a small roll of perforated paper.
