Week's Trivia Question |
In the late 80s,
scientists for drug-maker Pfizer began testing what was then known as
compound UK-92,480 for the treatment of angina. After poor results in
clinical human trials, the scientists decided to pursue what they
thought might be an interesting side effect - eventually resulting in
massive success for the drug now called...? The answer is below!

No Doesn't Mean
Never
by
Richard Fenton
Woody Allen said that 80% of success is simply showing
up. And, while the power of “showing up”
should not be under-estimated, the reality is that showing up, in and
of itself, is usually not enough. The key is to show up... and
then to keep showing up! In other words, to
demonstrate what we’ve all come to know as…
persistence.
I remember when I worked with my Dad at the car dealership. Sales were
slow and the owner came over to the fleet office and announced that
we’d have to cut way back on client gifts for the holidays.
In those days it was a tradition of sorts to load the back of a van
with cases of wine and vodka etc. and drive around the city, stopping
off at every company we sold cars to… or would like to have
sold cars to… and drop off a bottle or two of
“holiday cheer.”
So, with the new budget in mind, my father went to work crossing names
off the gift list. That’s when I noticed one company that he
hadn’t eliminated. So I said, “What about
this company? They never buy anything!” To which my
father replied: “You’re
right. I’ve got 18 bottles of booze invested in
these guys. This year they get two!” That
year we stopped by and dropped off two bottles. And that was
the year the prospect finally became a customer. And the
lesson from this experience cannot be over-emphasized; NO
doesn’t mean NEVER. NO means NOT
YET.

"Life
has a way of teaching us painful lessons, and sometimes suffering can
be a good teacher. I think that I have learned by my so-called
failures, because I believe anybody who's out there doing anything
constructively is doing something that they've never done before.
They're pushing out of their comfort zone, so we're subjecting
ourselves to a so-called failure or success every day." - Connie Kadansky
