This Week's NOtivational Article

New Year, New You... Really? (Part 2 of 4)
by Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz

Last week we suggested that maybe the New Year's resolutions you've made might not be kept due to a simple fact: Another New Year has indeed come, but YOU yourself are not new.  Let's face it -  the simple turning of a calendar page does not change us, at least not at the core of our being. Or our programming.  Because it's our inner programming... our 'beliefs'... that determines our behavior.  Which brings us to the subject of icebergs.  Yes, icebergs.  And iceberg beliefs.

What, exactly, are iceberg beliefs? Actually, they're exactly what they sound like: big beliefs that - like icebergs - are below the surface of the water... and our consciousness.  But make no mistake, they are there. And if you don't acknowledge and watch out for them, your resolutions will run dead into them. And just like the Titanic, you're going down.

Want an example?  Your New Year's resolution is to go on a strict 1,700 calorie diet. But you have an iceberg belief that "it's unfair that some people are born with high metabolisms and can eat anything they want and never gain an ounce."  Well, there's only one way to make things "fair"... and that's to eat anything we want like them!  Get the idea?  So what are YOUR iceberg beliefs?  Figure them out. Because if you don't know what they are, how can you ever expect to change them?

More on this - and what you can do about it - next week!

Go for No!® News

We're preparing to go to print on another run of books once again - but with a few changes! This time we'll have testimonials from Darren Hardy & Bob Burg on the cover as follows:

"Do you want to achieve success? If your answer is 'yes', then you need to get more no's. This book will show you why and how."
-Darren Hardy, Publisher, SUCCESS magazine

"Powerful... inspiring... the ultimate 'reframe' for success!"
-Bob Burg, co-author of The Go-Giver and Go-Givers Sell More

The new version - which includes a just-added "Over 125,000 Copies in Print!" starburst on the back cover, will be in stock by the end of January.

NOtable Quotables from the Go for No! Movie

"I don't necessarily think that when you hear the word "No" that you should continually come back and do everything the same way, that's like a woodpecker knocking on a piece of wood - cluck, cluck, cluck. After his 200th knock, his 201st knock is going to be the same. And so my definition of the Go for No concept is, go for no, and then be creative and do it again. If you get a 'No,' be a little more creative and try again."  -David Frey

Richard & Andrea Recommend...

If you haven't seen it yet, you've GOT to rent Albert Brooks' movie masterpiece, "Defending Your Life!"  Not only is it really funny, it's extremely thought provoking, especially the scenes where Brooks' character is being 'prosecuted' for his fears which are keeping him from moving on to the 'next level.'

This Week's Trivia Answer

The last death due to small pox was in September, 1978, when Janet Parker  - an English medical photographer - was exposed to the virus as the result of a laboratory accident. On May 8, 1980, the World Health Organization declared smallpox eradicated, but some samples remain in laboratories in Atlanta and Moscow. When scientists finally destroy the samples, the smallpox virus will become the first life form intentionally eliminated from the earth.
