If The First Door is Closed... Do This by Andrea Waltz We were in Las Vegas (years ago) and I really wanted to go to Studio 54 the infamous club which had been brought back to life there. (I missed the disco era! ðŸ˜) Of course, there was a crazy long line of people waiting to get in
to dance the night away. Also, there was a doorman holding a clipboard which seemed to have a "special list" for the rare people who were on it. We were not on that list. Richard approached the door guy and said,
"I see the long line over there. I also see your list. Is there a third line?" To which door guy replied, "What kind of a third line are we talking about?" Richard handed him $40 and said, "This kind." And just like that, the rope was lifted and we went in. In his book The Third Door, Alex Banayan says success works the same way. There's the line everyone waits in. There's the VIP entrance. And then… there's the third door. Some people follow the rules. Some are born into access. The rest of us? We find another way in. Now... it doesn't always mean paying off the doorman! 😜 It might look like: - Boldly reaching out directly
to someone you admire.
- Pitching an idea no one asked for (yet).
- Asking again when the first 'no' wasn’t never it was just a not now.Â
Even when you go for the third door, you might still get rejected. That’s why pairing the third door strategy with Go
for No is so powerful. Third Door = Creative Access Get scrappy. Get bold. Find a way in. Go for No = Rejection Resilience Hear no? Cool. Adjust. Try again. Together = Relentless Strategy Because the people who win aren’t the ones who never get rejected… They’re the ones who refuse to stay out just because the first door was closed.
