When Richard and I started dating (eons ago), I was not in any way a "sports" person, and he introduced me to basketball.

I remember watching one game early on, the score was like 100 to 106 with about 8 seconds left. I got off the couch and casually said, "Well, looks like this game is OVER," to which he looked at me and replied, "Not even close!"

I thought he was nuts.

But then he explained how in basketball, 8 seconds can be an eternity.

With timeouts, fouls, free throws, and the constant back-and-forth, there's still potential for multiple possessions and game-changing shots.

Last week, the Lakers had a crushing loss thanks to a spectacular half-court shot with two seconds left on the clock in a game against the Chicago Bulls.

With the NCAA Final Four starting (at the time I am writing this) there are sure to be some crazy moments. 

As Larry Bird said, "Push yourself again and again. Don’t give an inch until the final buzzer sounds."

You keep playing. You keep asking. You keep showing up.

Because anything can happen… even with a second to go!
