Embracing the Storm by Andrea Waltz & Richard Fenton Living in Florida, a couple years ago we had a pretty strong hurricane come through our area. Both of the cypress trees out front buckled. The wind was too strong for too long. So, we decided to replace them with palm trees. The good news was not only did we want palm trees anyway but they're going to be able to handle our crazy
weather. (If you've ever visited Florida in the summer, you know it can be perfectly sunny one moment and a torrential downpour the next.) During a hurricane, a palm tree, instead of breaking, bends and sways, using the storm to deepen its roots and grow tougher. This is the essence of being anti-fragile: getting stronger because of the adversity. That's also the essence of Go for No! Rather than fighting
against the storm of rejection, embrace it. Each "no" you hear is like the wind pushing you to dig deeper and become better. It's that old saying that it's not about avoiding the storm but learning to dance in the rain. When the skies turn grey and the winds pick up, remember that every "no" is a chance to strengthen your skills and push closer to your goals. So, face the storm with confidence. Be a palm tree, not a cypress. 🌴
