Do you shy away from starting conversations?
Wish you could interrupt someone but can't bring
yourself to do it?
It comes down to courage plain and simple.
Here’s an eye-opening story told by Noah Kagan, founder of AppSumo:
"I was in first class on a 9-hour flight and my seat was next to a man wearing a $100,000 watch. He was clearly a multi-millionaire, and I wanted to talk to start a conversation with him, but I thought he might think it was rude of me to bother him.
But I found the courage to
introduce myself, and he was so nice!
We talked for hours, and he shared all kinds of business and marketing tips with me that I could use to build my business.
And that’s the thing we all need to remember: the
upside was a new relationship with someone who was extremely willing to give of himself with no expectation of getting anything in return.
And the downside? 2-3 seconds of fear and self-doubt, if we can just get over that, the entire world is open to us."
Courage is the key which unlocks doors to meaningful conversations, like turning a mysterious handle; you never know what worlds of connection await.
