Living Boldly in a World of Uncertainty by Andrea
Waltz We just passed a date that will be forever etched in the minds of most everyone reading this: September 11. Do you remember where you were? Most of you reading this probably can. On that day in 2001, I was 29. Richard and I lived in Los Angeles and had woken up to the news. I remember those confusing hours as the morning unfolded, thinking. What the hell is going on? That date will never be ordinary to me and will never pass without remembering. When this day comes around now I think of the quote attributed to Walter Payton (an NFL running back
for the Chicago Bears) who said: "Remember, tomorrow is promised to no one." The Law of Opposites How do we live with such a harsh truth that tomorrow is promised to no one? I think it's embracing the law of opposites. Everything has a "two sides" or an "opposite" like a coin. There are two sides, a heads and a tails, but
they're still part of the same coin. Without darkness, we have no light. Without struggle there can be no victory. Without sadness there is no joy. Without no, yes does not have any meaning. Because life is precarious it is also precious. In a world where tomorrow is never guaranteed, the fleeting nature of existence is a consistent
reminder of the urgency to seize the present moment. - Take risks.
- Pursue dreams.
- Take action.
- Be bold!
The fragility of life, rather than being a source of fear, should serve as a catalyst for us to live with purpose, passion, and commitment to making the most of our precious time on this
planet.
