We're super excited to announce that our newest book, "When They Say No" is finally out! (Paperback and ebook, the audio is on the way in March.)
There are four parts to the book but the main section is the 41 strategies for handling the no both internallyâwhat you should think and say to yourselfâand externallyâwhat you should say and do next with
the customer.Â
Here's an excerpt from, "Respect Their Decision."
Along with attacking you should avoid a few other unproductive responses at all costs. For example, pressuring the customer to buy: âWhat? No? Are you out of your mind? This is an amazing deal. Youâre making a huge mistake.âÂ
And then thereâs:
Â
â Pouting. Sounds like: âWow, so much for my bonus this month. My boss isnât going to be happy about this,
either.âÂ
Â
â Begging. Sounds like: âWait, are you sure? You seemed like you were saying âyes.â I was counting on this happening today.â (Weâll talk more about this in a bit.)
Â
â Bartering. Sounds like: âDo this deal today and on next monthâs invoice, Iâll give you a better price.â
Â
â Bridge-burning: âFine. Iâll go to your biggest competitor and see what they
think of this proposal. Youâll wish you hadnât turned us down.â Â
Â
As our friend and fellow sales trainer, Weldon Long likes to say: ââNoâ is a perfectly acceptable answer.â
Â
We'd love you to buy the book if sounds interesting.
