This Month's NOtivational Thought
|
This month, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope
released the deepest and sharpest infrared images of the distant universe to date. Thousands of galaxies... not stars, galaxies. It's mind boggling. Google it if you haven't already.
We look at those pictures especially when we require some much needed perspective. And then we remember what Aldous Huxley said, "There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self."

The Simple Formula to Building Self-Confidence Every Day
by Andrea Waltz
Toddlers seem to have endless confidence. They act like they are invincible... until they have an experience that teaches them that things are dangerous, other kids
are unpredictable, and they can hurt themselves if they are not careful.
What we learn is that the world is a much bigger, scarier place than we realized and our confidence shrinks down. Luckily, it quickly re-builds through a simple formula:
**Confidence = Time + Experience**
This process applies to everything in life.
When I got my driver’s license, I was nervous.
At first, I was scared to drive on the freeway so I’d stay in the slow lane. Months later, I was a more confident driver but I still got into an accident which of course, was my fault. I was overconfident and not as good as I thought. I didn’t have enough time or experience.
Today, I am a fully confident driver (even with Richard screaming in the passenger seat that I am too close to the curb, ha!) so much that I can get into a car, drive somewhere, and barely remember doing it.
This is called unconscious competence. And, no accidents. The longer you are here on Earth, and the more experiences you have dealing with other people, living, surviving, and, working, the more your confidence grows.
**Remove time **= confidence is not as high.
**Remove experience** = no matter someone’s age, they won’t be fully confident doing something new.
This same formula applied when I started speaking. I was terribly nervous in the beginning. The longer I did it, the more experience I had, the more confident I became.
If you want to gain confidence faster, you can increase the number and frequency of your experiences in the area you want to be more confident. As we teach with the go for no strategy, if you want to get a lot more yeses, start collecting a lot more nos! Fast.
I’ll never forget what Jack Canfield said to me when I interviewed him. He said, self-confidence is gained “through the successfully survived risk.”
And remember, you can’t wait to be confident to start getting confident so get out there and start successfully surviving more risks.

One More NOteworthy Quote |
“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make
sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the Universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up."
